Ziggy (aka Zigg a Zigg Diggs) is a 7 yr old gelding who came to us in September 2023, from a kill pen with another donkey named Manny (who we unfortunately lost in January 2024). Ziggy is a good sweet boy, once he trusts you and he often seeks out his favorite humans. Ziggy hangs out with the general herd and although he doesn't start trouble, he doesn't back down from it either. He is available for adoption to the right home who can provide patience and love. Once a human is owned by Ziggy, he will love that human wholeheartedly. Donkey experience is a plus for the Bigg Zigg.

Ziggy's Donkey Fun Fact: Donkeys have a keen sense of self-preservation. If they feel they are in danger, rather than running away, they will stand their ground and refuse to move, giving them time to make their own decision about whether or not it is safe to keep going forward. This reaction is distinctly different from that of horses that, when frightened, usually flee immediately. We get many calls for donkeys that are wanted for livestock guardians. We do not adopt out our donkeys for this purpose. We back the policy of other experienced high profile donkey rescues that donkeys are NOT guardian animals as they can (and often do) seriously hurt or kill the very animals they are supposed to protect. They also can be vulnerable themselves of predator attacks.
