Cupid (light gray) and Gaylon (gray / white spotted) are a bonded pair of 5 year old geldings. Cupid was part of the reindeer pack, a last minute addition of 9 jacks to our January 2023 transport from Bastrop, LA. Gaylon came to us from Bastrop in March 2021. He was adopted twice and returned. His second adoption was with Cupid and they are very bonded. Although they were loved, sometimes adopters have life changes that prevent them from continuing to properly care for our donkeys and our contract states that we take them back into our fold without question. Once a WRR donkey, always a WRR donkey! These boys are still in a bit of a rehab mode and will be available for adoption to the right home when we feel they are ready. Both are a bit shy, but accepting of gentle slow touch. They look out for each other, with Gaylon playing the big brother role to his smaller pal Cupid. They will most likely require continued patient handling until trust is earned.

Gaylon and Cupid’s Donkey Fun Fact: Donkeys and mules are social animals that often form strong bonds with their companions and can become very attached to their owners. Donkeys, in particular, have a strong tendency towards pair bonding and can form deep, lifelong connections with another donkey or even with their human caregiver(s).
